BigLift Shipping B.V., part of the Spliethoff Group, is a global leader in heavy cargo transport. With a fleet of 25 state-of-the-art heavy lift and heavy transport vessels we execute some of the world’s most complex marine transport and heavy lift projects. With the expansion of our fleet, BigLift is looking for a Manager Operations to strengthen our maritime operations.

What Will You Be Doing

The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient execution of cargo and vessel operations.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operational planning and ensure seamless project coordination.
  • Direct Project Managers, Cargo Superintendents, Operators, and Operations Administrators.
  • Input into the Company Strategy and set objectives and yearly goals for operations.
  • Allocate Project Managers and Cargo Superintendents to projects and tenders.
  • Oversee all projects, monitor progress, and take steering measures to ensure project success.
  • Collaborate closely with the Manager Engineering, ensuring continuous alignment and communication.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and the BigLift Management System, including Quality and HSE policies.
  • Ensure a correct and complete voyage administration, including the financial close-out of projects.
  • Ensure required capacity and quality of people are available.
  • Facilitate and support personal and professional development and perform appraisals of assigned team members.

What Do We Ask

  • At least 3 years’ experience in managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to delegate and coordinate complex activities.
  • Demonstrable experience in the (heavy) shipping sector.
  • Nautical and/or technical background.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
  • Experience with environmental aspects relevant to maritime operations.
