A growing specialty physician-practice platform is building a more consistent, accountable operating model across its practices and markets. The organization is physician-centric, outcomes-focused, and entering a stage where strong field execution and integration discipline are essential.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Vice President of Operations will report to the CEO and own operating and financial performance across a distributed practice network. This is a hands-on builder role for a leader who can strengthen day-to-day execution, integrate practices, develop leaders, and create clear operating rhythms. Houston is the primary market, with Atlanta as a secondary option. Regular travel and meaningful in-market presence are required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Multi-site performance
• Own operating and financial performance across practices and markets.
• Improve staffing, scheduling, patient access, revenue cycle, patient experience, and site-level results.
• Diagnose underperformance and turn improvements into repeatable operating practices.
Integrations and operating systems
• Lead practice, market, service-line, and major-system integrations from planning through adoption.
• Build KPI reviews, SOPs, decision rights, meeting cadences, and escalation paths that leaders use.
• Give the CEO clear visibility into performance, risks, priorities, and corrective actions.
Leadership and physician partnership
• Hire, coach, and hold practice, market, regional, and functional leaders accountable.
• Partner with physicians and functional leaders to convert strategy into field execution.
• Build an operating organization that resolves issues at the right level.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Direct ownership of multi-site outpatient physician-practice or comparable ambulatory operations.
• Accountability for operating and financial KPIs, with measurable improvement.
• Candidate-owned leadership of a practice, market, service-line, acquisition, or major-system integration.
• Direct leadership of distributed practice, market, regional, or functional operating leaders.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Multi-site healthcare operations
• Practice integration and change adoption
• KPI systems, SOPs, and operating cadences
• Physician partnership and influence
• Staffing, scheduling, patient access, revenue cycle, and EMR workflows
• P&L, budgeting, and site-level economics
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Experience in an MSO, PPM, PE-backed healthcare-services business, specialty-clinic network, ASC, urgent care, dental, or similar ambulatory platform
• Experience scaling or turning around markets and practices
• Master's degree
PAY RANGE AND COMPENSATION PACKAGE
• Base salary: $130,000 to $145,000
• Objective performance bonus: up to 30%
• Potential annual cash compensation at full bonus attainment: approximately $169,000 to $188,500
• Bonus compensation is performance-based and not guaranteed
