Job Description

About the Role:  

The Senior Manager, People Operations will play a critical role in scaling and optimizing Guardant’s global People (HR) infrastructure. This role leads the development and execution of key HR operational processes and programs, ensuring they are efficient, scalable, and aligned with both U.S. and international requirements. Reporting to the Senior Director of People Technology and Operations, this individual will manage a small team and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders in HR, IT, Payroll, Finance, Legal, and other departments to deliver a seamless employee experience across multiple countries.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, best-in-class People Operations across global regions, including processes, including onboarding/offboarding and employee data management in Workday.  
  • Manage and prioritize a portfolio of HR projects and initiatives, applying project management best practices to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.  
  • Coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing People Operations team, promoting professional growth and team engagement.  
  • Partner with HRIS and IT teams to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement across the employee lifecycle.  
  • Drive operational excellence by defining and maintaining data integrity standards, roles, and responsibilities across People systems.  
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment on key People initiatives and serve as a liaison to ensure successful implementation and change management.  
  • Apply a design thinking lens to employee experience initiatives, continuously refining HR touchpoints to ensure positive, user-centered outcomes.  
  • Remain agile and responsive to shifting business priorities and evolving organizational needs.  

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.  
  • 7+ years of experience in HR Operations, Project Management, or equivalent leadership roles.  
  • Proven expertise in managing complex HR processes within Workday or similar HRIS systems.  
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing teams.  
  • Strong knowledge of HR operations, data management, and process optimization.  
  • Excellent project management skills; PMP certification a plus.  
  • Analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail and proficiency with MS Excel and other MS Office tools.  
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels.  

Hybrid Work Model:

This section is applicable to onsite employees who are eligible for hybrid work location as specified by management and related policies. Guardant has defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We have found aligning our scheduled in-office days allows our teams to do the best work and creates the focused thinking time our innovative work requires. At Guardant, our work model has created flexibility for better work-life balance while keeping teams connected to advance our science for our patients.

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment.
