Position Summary:

We are seeking a strategic, detail-oriented Family Business Manager to oversee the financial and operational aspects of a multi-generational family-owned enterprise. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity and continuity of the business while ensuring compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, paired with exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership:

  • Oversee some accounting and financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial data of trusts, equities, and dividend distribution to provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal controls.
  • Coordinate and manage annual audits and liaise with internal finance department and external auditors, CPAs, and advisors.

Business Operations & Strategy:

  • Work closely with family stakeholders to align business operations with long-term goals and values.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures, succession planning frameworks, and governance structures.
  • Serve as a liaison between the business and the family, balancing professional management with family legacy considerations.

Governance & Relationship Management:

  • Facilitate regular communication between family members, business managers, and advisors.
  • Support the family council or board in developing policies, charters, and protocols.
  • Guide generational transitions, mentor next-generation leaders, and manage family education initiatives related to business and finance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial management, or business leadership.
  • Experience working in or with privately held or family-owned businesses strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage complex financials and navigate interpersonal family dynamics.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • High emotional intelligence, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential matters.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with estate planning, family trusts, and intergenerational wealth management.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple stakeholders.
