About the Role:

  

Our client, a PE-backed, multi-site dental platform is seeking a Director of Operations to partner directly with the COO in driving associate doctor performance & regional profitability. This is not a passive oversight role. The mandate is to elevate associate accountability, strengthen operational discipline, and materially improve EBITDA performance across a defined region of practices. The focus is performance, leadership, and execution, particularly around developing associate doctors, implementing accountability structures, and ensuring operational consistency at the site level.

  

Key Responsibilities:

  

  • Lead operational performance across a portfolio of West Coast practices  
  • Drive associate doctor productivity, growth, and accountability  
  • Implement structured performance reviews and development frameworks  
  • Partner with clinical leadership to ensure appropriate chart oversight and standards  
  • Improve regional profitability through production growth and operational discipline  
  • Coach and develop practice managers to strengthen execution at site level  
  • Establish clear KPIs, expectations, and communication rhythms  
  • Identify under-performing doctors or locations and implement corrective action plans  
  • Provide transparent performance reporting to the COO/CEO  

  

Ideal Background:

  

  • 8-15+ years in multi-site dental operations (DSO) experience required  
  • Direct experience managing associate doctor performance  
  • Proven track record of improving production per provider and same-store growth  
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to hold clinicians accountable  
  • Experience overseeing 30+ practices  
  • P&L ownership and EBITDA improvement exposure  
  • Comfortable in a performance-driven, PE-supported environment  
  • Willingness to travel regularly across California/Washington
