The Opportunity  

The Director, Finance Operations is a key member of mSupply’s Finance leadership team, reporting to the Vice President of Finance and serving as a senior finance partner to the business. This leader will help build and lead an enterprise Operations Finance capability, with Appliance and Plumbing as the initial areas of focus.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines financial strategy, business partnership and execution. The Director works closely with Sales, Operations, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Distribution and Executive Leadership to turn financial and operational insights into action—improving forecast accuracy, gross margin, customer profitability, cost-to-serve, working capital, inventory and overall business performance.

The Director will also lead and develop the finance analyst team, strengthen reporting and financial systems, and provide leadership support and continuity for the VP of Finance.

What You’ll Do  

Operations Finance & Business Partnership 

  •  Serve as a strategic finance partner to business leaders, providing insight into revenue, gross margin, customer profitability, operating expenses, working capital, inventory and investment decisions.  
  •  Translate financial results, forecasts and operational trends into clear insights, risks, opportunities and recommended actions.  
  •  Partner with Sales, Operations, Merchandising, Supply Chain and Distribution to evaluate pricing, product mix, vendor programs, service requirements and growth initiatives.  
  •  Identify opportunities to improve margin, reduce cost leakage and optimize customer and operational profitability.  
  •  Develop financial frameworks that support better decision-making around customers, products, service levels and resource allocation.  

Planning & Performance Management 

  •  Lead monthly and quarterly business reviews, including variance analysis, KPI reporting and actionable recommendations.  
  •  Improve forecast accuracy by connecting financial performance with customer trends, product mix, pricing, vendor costs, supply constraints and operational performance.  
  •  Partner with FP&A on annual budgeting, rolling forecasts and long-range planning.  
  •  Support pricing, margin optimization, capital investment and growth decisions through financial modeling, ROI analysis and scenario planning.  

Commercial Finance & Profitability 

  •  Lead financial analysis of strategic customer opportunities, national accounts, vendor programs, major deals and other commercial initiatives.  
  •  Partner with commercial leaders to evaluate pricing, discounting, contract terms, rebates, freight, cost-to-serve and contribution margin.  
  •  Develop customer and product profitability analysis to support pricing, service and sales decisions.  
  •  Identify opportunities to improve margin, working capital and SG&A effectiveness.  

Financial Systems & Reporting 

  •  Lead the development and enhancement of dashboards, reporting tools and financial models that provide timely, actionable business insight.  
  •  Improve financial systems, reporting processes and data governance to establish consistent and reliable information.  
  •  Reduce manual reporting through automation, standardization and effective use of technology and AI-enabled tools.  
  •  Partner cross-functionally to improve data integrity and reporting capabilities.  

Leadership & Team Development 

  •  Lead, develop and mentor a high-performing finance analyst team.  
  •  Establish clear priorities, quality standards, accountability and development opportunities for the team.  
  •  Serve as a key point of continuity for the Finance organization, supporting the VP of Finance on defined matters, leadership meetings, operating reviews and cross-functional initiatives.  
  •  Foster a collaborative, results-oriented culture that balances strategic thinking with strong operational execution.  
  •  Perform other duties as assigned.  

What You’ll Bring  

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related field required; MBA, CPA, CFA or advanced degree preferred.  
  •  10+ years of progressive experience in operations finance, commercial finance, FP&A, sales finance, corporate finance or related business partnership roles.  
  •  3+ years of experience leading teams or significant cross-functional finance initiatives preferred.  
  •  Experience in distribution, B2B products, logistics, sales operations or customer profitability environments strongly preferred.  
  •  Demonstrated experience with forecasting, gross margin analysis, SG&A management, customer profitability, executive reporting and operational performance management.  
  •  Strong financial modeling skills and the ability to connect financial results with commercial drivers, operating metrics, working capital and business strategy.  
  •  Experience managing analysts, improving processes and developing scalable reporting and analytics capabilities.  
  •  Advanced proficiency in Excel, financial systems and Power BI; experience with automation, AI-enabled tools and data analytics preferred.  
  •  Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial leaders and drive action without direct authority.  
  •  Strong business acumen, executive presence, ownership and sound financial judgment.  
  •  High integrity, adaptability and comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
