Job Description:

Our client, a growing service organization, is seeking a Director, Finance & Accounting Operations to lead key finance and accounting functions and support the company’s continued growth. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who enjoys building strong teams, improving processes, strengthening controls, and partnering with leadership to drive operational and financial discipline across the business.

The Director, Finance & Accounting Operations will oversee core functions including tax, collections/accounts receivable, and accounts payable, while helping improve billing accuracy, cash collections, vendor payment processes, internal controls, and scalable finance operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who can balance strategic thinking with day-to-day operational execution in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop teams across Tax, Accounts Receivable/Collections, and Accounts Payable, promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic and operational oversight to support company financial goals, cash flow management, and business growth.
  • Manage multi-state tax compliance and partner with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely filings.
  • Drive improvements in collections, billing accuracy, cash application, and vendor payment processes.
  • Strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and reporting discipline across finance and accounting operations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to create scalable infrastructure that supports continued growth.
  • Partner with senior leadership to provide financial insights, operational recommendations, and support for key business decisions.
  • Support ERP, financial systems, and reporting tool optimization.
  • Assist with M&A integration, financial systems onboarding, and process standardization as the company grows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or finance operations experience.
  • Proven experience leading teams across multiple functional areas such as tax, AR/collections, AP, accounting operations, or shared services.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, tax compliance, and financial operations.
  • Experience managing or supporting multi-state tax compliance.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, growth-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and process improvement initiatives.
