People Operations Consultant II plays a key role in strategically leveraging human resources (HR) solutions to support service delivery and operational design. This position contributes to a seamless and engaging employee experience by acting as a thought partner to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to inquiries and challenges from across the enterprise. Seeks to develop integrated and innovative solutions across human resources to deliver value-added services. The consultant collaborates cross-functionally to ensure consistent, efficient, and employee-centric HR support.
What You Will Do
- Provides employee lifecycle support by thoroughly researching and responding to Tier 1 and 2 employee and policy related questions that have been escalated from self-service, with an employee experience mindset. Identifies, escalates, and participates in addressing trends in Workday Help inquiries that can be process improved for an enhanced employee experience at the self-service level or through modified HR processes.
- Executes and applies critical thinking to operational processes, programs, and projects of a complex nature.
- Monitors and troubleshoots data/ information discrepancies for various systems across the business unit, with a strong emphasis on working in our Human Capital Management system. Evaluates and administers workflow information for processing, escalation, or resolution.
- Administers internal bargaining unit recruitment processes in accordance with each collective bargaining agreement. May conduct external recruitment activities.
- May perform activities involving drug and background screening.
- Participates in investigating routine concerns submitted through the Ethics & Compliance hotline reporting system.
- Collaborates and engages with HR teams proactively to ensure consistency in HR service delivery and effectively address needs. Does this using a broad level of understanding of multiple functional areas such as employment investigations, HR compliance, HRIS, etc.
- Supports the development and implementation of HR programs. Ensures repeatable processes are documented.
- Develops strong working knowledge of programs, policies, or processes aligned to various service areas. Assists in audits and compliance checks.
- Use data and analytics to inform decisions, identify trends, and measure the impact of HR initiatives.
- May provide assistance to support work/projects outside of the People Operations team on a short-term basis.
- Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Preferred
Required Experience
- Min of 3 years of experience executing various human resource employee lifecycle programs, projects and/or initiatives, with familiarity in employment investigations, and HR processes.
Preferred Experience
- Workday HCM or other cloud-based HR systems experience highly desired.

Pay Range:
$70,555 - $91,670
This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
