Job Description:
Sierra Executive Solutions, Inc. (SES) is a 3rd party search firm recruiting for a multi-site retail establishment's Director of Operations career opportunity. A brand new position created to service the owners in a retirement transition and spearhead new growth strategy of the organization. This is an on-site role based in Sparks, NV to travel to 10+ retail locations in No. Nevada and Lake Tahoe region. Local No. NV and Lake Tahoe applicants will be given preference as there is no relocation expense budget approved at this time. Position Summary
The Director of Retail Operations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all retail locations and Warehouse while partnering closely with Corporate Support teams. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, developing Area and Store Managers, ensuring consistent execution of company standards, and delivering exceptional customer experience across all locations.
The Director of Operations serves as the operational leader for the field, creating accountability through coaching, performance management, KPI monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position reports directly to Ownership and works collaboratively with Human Resources to support leadership development, workforce planning, compliance, and employee engagement.
Retail Operations Leadership
- Lead the daily operations of all retail locations and warehouse.
- Directly manage and develop Area Managers, District Manager, and Warehouse Manager.
- Establish clear operational expectations and ensure consistent execution across every store and Warehouse.
- Drive accountability through store visits, coaching, and performance reviews.
- Identify operational risks and implement corrective action plans.
Leadership Development
- Coach Area Managers, Store Managers, District Manager, and Warehouse Managers.
- Develop succession plans.
- Ensure managers understand company expectations, policies, and SOPs.
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Operational Excellence
- Standardize operational processes.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, merchandising standards, inventory practices, and customer service expectations.
- Conduct operational audits.
- Partner with department leaders to improve efficiency.
Financial Performance
- Monitor sales, payroll, labor, shrink, inventory accuracy, and operating expenses.
- Analyze trends and improve profitability.
- Hold Area Managers accountable for results.
Inventory & Supply Chain Partnership
- Partner with the Warehouse Manager to improve inventory flow.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and operational readiness.
- Resolve recurring inventory issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with HR on leadership coaching, performance management, employee relations, recruiting, workforce planning, and organizational development.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Purchasing, and Warehouse teams.

Qualifications
- 7+ years of multi-unit RETAIL operations leadership is firmly required (10+ stores is the equivalent and required experience).
- Bachelor Degree preferred; further education such as MBA or Six Sigma certification is highly desired.
- 3+ demonstrated experience in a supervisory role leading Area or District Managers is required.
- Notable strong retail operations management plus P&L and financial acumen.
- Known for excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams.
- Local No. NV and Lake Tahoe CA region candidates will be given preference for interview.
