


Director of Operations
Overview
Our client, a leader in precision‑engineered drilling tools and industrial components, is seeking 2 experienced Directors of Operations to oversee all manufacturing, production, supply chain, and operational functions across North (Pittston, PA) and South (Longview, TX) regional facilities.
This is not a reloction opportunity, you must be local or within a 2 hour location of the facilities.
This executive role is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring safety and quality, optimizing throughput, and supporting strategic growth initiatives across the organization. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in machining, metalworking, or industrial manufacturing environments, with a proven ability to lead teams, streamline processes, and deliver results in a fast‑paced, customer‑driven business.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and hands‑on leadership for all plant operations, including production, machining, assembly, maintenance, quality, and logistics.
- Develop and execute operational plans aligned with company goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Oversee daily production activities to ensure on‑time delivery and adherence to customer specifications.
- Optimize workflow, capacity planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of CNC machines, tooling, and production equipment.
- Champion a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Maintain rigorous quality control processes to meet industry standards and customer expectations.
- Partner with engineering and quality teams to resolve nonconformance and drive corrective actions.
- Oversee purchasing, vendor management, and inventory control to ensure material availability and cost efficiency.
- Strengthen relationships with suppliers and evaluate new sourcing opportunities.
- Monitor inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and material flow throughout the facility.
- Lead, mentor, and develop supervisors, team leads, and operational staff.
- Build a high‑performance culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Support workforce planning, training, and performance management initiatives.
- Manage operational budgets, capital expenditures, and cost‑reduction initiatives.
- Provide data‑driven insights to senior leadership on operational performance and improvement opportunities.
- Support long‑term strategic planning, including facility expansion, equipment upgrades, and process modernization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing or industrial operations; machining or metalworking experience strongly preferred.
- Proven success managing production environments with complex tooling, CNC machining, or drilling‑tool manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational excellence principles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and build strong cross‑functional relationships.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
