Job Description: COO for a DPO 

Location: Hybrid - preferably based in NYC (must be based in one of the following states: CA, FL, GA, HI, IL, MN, MO, NJ, NY, WA)  

Reports to: CEO

About Us  

Rising Tide Dental is a fast-growing Dental Partnership Organization (DPO) seeking a highly organized and proactive Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead our Operations Team of Regional Managers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys variety, and wants to make a meaningful impact in the dental industry. We are a growing DPO supporting a network of practices focused on delivering high-quality patient care and strong operational performance. Our model combines clinical autonomy with centralized support, allowing our practices to scale efficiently while maintaining a patient-first culture.

The Opportunity  

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Chief Operating Officer (COO) to serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and help lead the next phase of growth for Rising Tide Dental.  

The COO will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and execution of the organization, ensuring alignment across operations, revenue cycle, people, technology, and other shared services functions. This executive will build the systems, leadership team, and operational infrastructure necessary to scale a high-performing dental platform while maintaining exceptional patient and team member experiences.  

This role requires a leader who can think strategically while remaining deeply connected to execution. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with investors and executive leadership on long-term growth initiatives while also driving accountability and performance throughout the organization.

What You'll Do  

Enterprise Leadership  

  • Partner with the CEO to define company strategy, establish priorities, and drive execution across the organization  
  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, helping guide organizational growth, performance, and culture  
  • Build the operational infrastructure required to support a rapidly growing multi-site healthcare platform  
  • Translate strategic objectives into measurable plans, accountability, and results  
  • Lead enterprise-wide planning processes, annual objectives, and organizational performance reviews  
  • Help prepare the organization for future growth, including additional acquisitions, new market expansion, and increasing organizational complexity  

Operations & Practice Performance  

  • Provide executive oversight of field operations across all supported practices  
  • Lead the organization's operational leadership structure, including Regional Managers, Directors of Operations, Vice Presidents, and other operational leaders as the company evolves  
  • Drive performance across key metrics including revenue growth, profitability, patient experience, provider productivity, labor management, and practice efficiency  
  • Establish operating rhythms, scorecards, and accountability systems that create visibility and consistency across the organization  
  • Ensure operational excellence while preserving practice-level engagement and clinical autonomy  

Revenue Cycle Management  

  • Oversee revenue cycle strategy and performance, including billing, collections, insurance reimbursement, accounts receivable management, credentialing support, and related functions  
  • Drive initiatives that improve cash flow, collections performance, reimbursement outcomes, and revenue capture  
  • Establish accountability and reporting structures that provide clear visibility into revenue cycle performance across the organization  

People & Culture  

  • Provide executive leadership for the People function, including talent strategy, organizational development, leadership development, employee engagement, workforce planning, and performance management  
  • Partner with HR leadership to build scalable people programs that support growth and strengthen organizational culture  
  • Develop leadership capability throughout the organization and ensure succession planning for key roles  
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement  

Technology & Business Systems  

  • Provide executive oversight of technology, business systems, and operational reporting infrastructure  
  • Ensure technology investments support scalability, operational efficiency, data visibility, and decision-making  
  • Champion process improvement, automation, and system adoption across the organization  
  • Partner with functional leaders to optimize workflows and improve the user experience for both practice and support teams  

Growth & Integration  

  • Partner with executive leadership on acquisition strategy, due diligence, and integration planning  
  • Lead operational onboarding and integration of newly acquired practices  
  • Ensure successful implementation of systems, processes, and organizational standards following acquisitions  
  • Develop scalable infrastructure capable of supporting continued growth through both acquisitions and de novo expansion

What We're Looking For  

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within multi-site healthcare, DPO, DSO, physician practice management, healthcare services, or similar environments  
  • Significant executive leadership experience with responsibility for organizational performance and multiple business functions  
  • Demonstrated success leading field operations, shared services, and cross-functional teams  
  • Experience overseeing or partnering closely with functions such as revenue cycle, human resources, technology, finance, and operational support services  
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, including P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting, KPI development, and performance management  
  • Experience scaling organizations in high-growth and/or private equity-backed environments  
  • Proven success integrating acquisitions and building infrastructure to support growth  
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with operational execution  
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and change management skills  
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
