About the role

We’re looking for a Chief of Staff to be the Managing Partner’s right hand in our Consumer UK business. You’ll take ownership of talent, transformation and execution, which frees the Managing Partner to focus on strategy and business development. You’ll work across our delivery, business development and account teams. You’ll set the standards for how we hire, develop and work, drive AI adoption, and lead the projects that carry our strategy forward.

Talent management

  • Build a performance culture aligned to Basis values.
  • Own the Climbing Wall, our talent and capability framework. Make sure it’s adopted across the business and adjust it as the business changes.
  • Run the performance management process. Make sure six-monthly check-ins happen on time across the business, and manage the communication, timelines and follow-up. Line managers hold the conversations themselves.
  • Set the hiring process: how roles are defined, assessed and decided. Work with HR, external partners, hiring managers and the business owner to deliver it.
  • Own the onboarding process, so line managers have a clear, consistent way to onboard their new starters.
  • Shape the training and development strategy, and work with team leads to make sure people grow in their roles.
  • Work with team leads to improve retention.

Transformation, AI adoption and ways of working

  • Drive AI adoption so AI becomes part of how we work every day.
  • Redesign project processes so AI and our agents are built into them, not added on top of how things run today.
  • Define, document and embed ways of working, from onboarding through to project delivery, and make sure people use them.
  • Lead change and keep strategy execution on track: priorities, milestones and progress reporting.
  • Work with Group functions and other business units so nothing is duplicated.

Special projects

  • Lead projects set by the Managing Partner to deliver the strategy.
  • Act as a thought partner to the Managing Partner. Prepare decisions, pull together analysis and follow through on actions.
  • Take ownership of cross-team issues that don’t sit with one team, and see them through to resolution.
  • Step in where extra leadership capacity is needed.

About you

  • A senior operator from a professional services, consulting, research or agency background.
  • A track record of leading organisational change and managing complex projects.
  • Experience managing people and teams, building culture and driving change through people.
  • Hands-on experience with talent processes, such as performance management, capability frameworks and hiring.
  • An understanding of how processes work in consulting or agency environments.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambitious and sometimes chaotic environment, and known for bringing calm and structure to it.
  • Curious about AI and what it can do for how a business works.
  • Credible with senior leaders, and able to influence without direct authority.
  • Structured, commercially minded and a clear communicator.
  • Experience in research or insight is a plus, but not essential.
