Assistant Chief of Staff
Job Description
The Assistant Chief of Staff (ACoS) serves as a strategic partner and operational extension to the Chief of Staff and executive leadership. This role is responsible for driving cross-functional initiatives, advancing organizational priorities, and ensuring alignment between strategy and execution. The ACoS plays a critical role in synthesizing information, facilitating decision-making, and translating executive direction into actionable plans.
This position is ideal for a highly organized, analytical, and relationship-oriented professional with strong judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage complexity in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Develop and maintain a cross-functional roadmap for key initiatives to ensure visibility and alignment of priorities
- Act as a liaison across departments to ensure alignment, accountability, and progress on shared initiatives.
- Facilitate communication between clinical, operational, and administrative leaders to support integrated decision-making.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities across initiatives and proactively escalate as appropriate.
Operational, Financial & Performance Optimization
- Monitor performance metrics, dashboards, and reports tied to strategic priorities and fiscal responsibility.
- Optimize workflows and operational cadence to drive alignment
- Lead or support special projects as assigned, including rapid-cycle problem solving.
Stakeholder & Change Management
- Support change management efforts, including stakeholder engagement, communication planning, and readiness assessments.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance organizational goals.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Lead enterprise-wide strategic initiatives from concept through implementation, including planning, tracking milestones, and resolving barriers.
- Translate executive priorities into clear workplans, timelines, and deliverables.
- Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and analyses to support executive decision-making.
Executive & Leadership Support
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief of Staff, providing insights, analysis, and recommendations.
- Coordinate executive meetings, leadership forums, and cross-departmental workgroups; develop agendas, capture decisions, and track follow-up actions.
- Draft executive communications, summaries, and talking points as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, business, policy, or a related field. Master’s degree (MPP, MPH, MHA, MBA, or equivalent) is preferred.
- 4–7 years of progressive experience in healthcare administration, operations, strategy, consulting, or a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and emotional intelligence.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position requires a minimum of three in-office days per week in Middletown, CT
- Hybrid arrangements may be accommodated based on organizational needs.
